Did you know that the fastest growing occupation on the planet is that of Computer Engineer? I am the Head of the Computer Engineering program here at SPU. See me if you think you might be interested in exploring this exciting opportunity!

Some of my other interests:

I was the Conference Chair for the CCSC/NW 2002 conference that was held at SPU on October 4-5.

I am an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church and am on the Mission Committee.  My family and I have attended Snohomish Presbyterian Church since we moved to this area in 1991.

I am a Past Chair of the 1000-member  Everett Branch of The Mountaineers and have just completed a couple of terms on the Board of Trustees of The Mountaineers.  Come join us!

I am a member of the Highpointers Club and have bagged all of the 50 state highpoints including Denali which I climbed with my oldest son the summer of 2003.

I also enjoy bicycling.  I regularly do the Chilly Hilly ride, the STP (Seattle to Portland), the Skagit Spring Classic, and have done the Tour De Blast since it started about 10 years ago.

I ran my first marathon (the Seattle Marathon) in 2003.  This was a great experience but I'm now starting to get into ultra-marathons.

My family has enjoyed downhill skiing for many years and for the past 20 years have gone to Canada for a long weekend each year.  For photos, click here.

I gave a talk on teaching using Beowulf clusters at the CCSC/NW conference on October 8, 2004.  You can see the PowerPoint slides for the talk here.

(BTW, the background photo is Mt. Shucksan near Mt. Baker.  The summit eluded us 4 years ago and two summers ago, also.  This reminds me of the one that got away (have to climb it sometime).)
