Faster and Faster
-Berlin Wall, Flash Mobs, Airline Passengers, HSBC Checking accounts vs Facebook, Twitter

—Collective action different than Individual action

—Because the real message lay not in the behavior but in the collective action.

—Less wiling to use force if witnessed by the outside world

Fitting our Tools to a Small World
-Connecting to People, Meeting in Bar "Dodgeball", Howard Dean's Campaign, Employees "Structural Holes"

–Homophily (i.e., "love of the same") is the tendency of individuals to associate and bond with similar others)

—FOAF-Friend of a Friend Networking, software didn't actually introduce, it just provided the tool to do so.

—The success of Dean's campaign was to connect, but not move to action to VOTE, think of the different strategy for the Obama campaign.

—From Bonding Capitol to Bridging Capital-Uses Joi Ito IRC as an example of Bridging people together. We saw same demonstration in One Day for Design.

—Bonding is connecting, Bridging is moving persons into own connection spaces (or ownership)

—The difference between the employee that stays within the department and "circulates holes" vs the employee that meets outside of the department and brings back suggestions or sees the company in a "big picture" frame.
