Final Discussion

Our primary focus this quarter has been on exhibit design and way finding systems for example:

Vanderbilt Medical Center by FMG Design

It's important to understand how skillsets and knowledge attained during this exercise can be translated into other environmental systems such as trade show booths, museum exhibits, office spaces and other structural elements that users move through, experience and gather information from.

Examples of other environmental venues:

Pentegram (Environmental Graphics primarily exhibitions)

Apple Rock (Trade Show Booths and Kiosks)

Lance Wyman (Expo Graphics Temporary)

Light Table at War Room by David Small

Questions to ask regarding the process in which you undertook to understand both content and form:

R E S E A RC H

Did you do research?

What methods of research were most successful?

How did you evaluate your research?

Did your research result in any tangible outcomes toward developing content and building form?

Would this method of research be applicable to other types of environmental solutions and why?

A P P L I C A T I O N

How did you begin to apply your research?

What forms worked best for you to begin the application (ie discussion, sketches, presentations, prototypes) and why?

What components of your application do you see as valuable moving into final form building?

Would this method of application be applicable to other types of environmental solutions and why?

Although hypothetical do to the nature of your project what sort of results would you expect to gain from your process of content and form building in other types of exhibit designs?

What types of knowledges did you gain from this investigative study on wayfinding and space development?

How are your methods of designing an exhibit space applicable to other types of environmental solutions and why?
