Purpose: Reflect on the choices that have shaped your career path

As you near graduation, most of you have at least general ideas about what career path you will pursue. Some of you have crystal-clear plans, while others are still considering a wide range of options. In this paper, you will reflect on what choices you've made in your career path so far and discuss your plans for the future.

Since this is a reflective paper, your writing should take a narrative style that discusses your history and provides an analysis of your choices and plans. Your writing must be well-organized and of good quality - your paper will be graded on writing and grammar as well as content.

Assignment

Compose a 1500 - 2500 word paper that reflects on the choices you've made and your plans for a career. The paper must be narrative in style and provide answers (through the narrative) to at least the questions below. Your paper will be graded on both content and grammar.

Turn in your paper via email - name the file <LastName FirstName> Vocation Paper. Please use a MS-Word compatible format, as the instructor will use the commenting features of MS-Word to provide suggestions for your final draft.

Do not provide a list of answers. Your paper must flow as a story; the answers should be provided through the narrative.

If you are certain of your career choices:

bulletWhat people and/or events were influential in making your choices? Give some history...
bulletWhat is the reasoning behind the choices you've made? Were they good choices?
bulletDo you see God's direction in this career path? Why or why not?
bulletWhat talents has God given you that might be useful in your career? Do you have strong talents that you don't know how to use in this career?
bulletWhat are your goals in finding a job?
bulletWhat types of jobs are interesting to you and seem to fit your talents?
bulletHow will you ascertain which job has the most opportunities for you to serve God?

If you are uncertain of your career choices:

bulletHow did you choose your major and other career-related choices you've made?  Give some history...
bulletWhat is the reasoning behind the choices you've made so far? Were they good choices?
bulletWhat are important considerations for you as you explore career paths?
bulletHow might you know God's direction in choosing a career path?
bulletWhat talents has God given you that might help you in your career?
bulletWhat are your goals in finding a job?
bulletWhat types of jobs are interesting to you and seem to fit your talents?
bulletHow will you ascertain which job has the most opportunities for you to serve God?

Note on grading

Your paper will be graded based on how well you write about and analyze your experiences and plans. You will not be graded on the actual events and choices you describe.
