Presentation 1.1

Home Schedule Policies Resources Design Notebooks

Basics

Presenters - Two people will present. Those who do not present in the quarter's first presentation will present in the second one.

Time - Each team should take around 15-17 minutes to present. There is a firm maximum of 20 minutes. This should be equally divided amongst the two people presenting.

Appearance -  Please dress in a way that presents a professional image. It is not necessary to "dress up" (ties/suits/dresses are not necessary), but avoid looking sloppy.

Topics to cover (All are mandatory. Graded as a team)

  1. Overview - This is your first time to present your project - describe at a high level what your product is meant to do.

  2. Design goals - Explain the five most important design goals your team chose

  3. Block diagram and basic project organization - Explain your basic project structure. This is a great time to give a thorough description of your project from an engineer's perspective.

  4. Overview of user interface - Give a tour of how a user will interact with your system.

  5. Status - Explain where you are in the design process. What major breakthroughs occurred? What things fell apart? What's ahead/on/behind schedule? Are there any looming risks ahead?

Individual speaking characteristics (Graded individually)

Each individual will be critiqued on the following characteristics:

  1. Content - Each individual should contribute a significant and meaningful portion of the content.

  2. Time - Each individual should speak for an appropriate amount of time. For three people, this is around five minutes, for two people, this is seven or eight minutes.

  3. Visual Aides - You are expected to have quality visual aides to accompany your presentation. You do not have to use PowerPoint - you may use other techniques.

  4. Speaking - You should speak clearly and communicate effectively to the audience.
