All quiz questions will be based on the materials listed under the schedule for the
the period since the last quiz. The
text and other resources will be helpful to understand the required materials.
Sample short problems
You may consult notes, printouts of the course slides, textbooks, and use a
calculator to help you answer these problems. Here are some sample problems
based on the presentation on Data Transmission.
- You've measured a received signal's properties. The received signal varies
from -10V to +10V. The noise has an average value of 0.2V. What is the power SNR in
dB?
- Refer to the Audio Data Slide. What is the ratio of the highest power
level in a music signal to the lowest power level in a music signal? Give your
answer in linear form and dB.
- You are designing a new analog TV standard (based on NTSC) for a double-wide TV screen
(525 lines by 900 pixels). What bandwidth is required to transmit this signal?
